Evaluation.

At the beginning of assignment it was my intention to base both units on the same research and context but as the time passed each unit found their own separate paths. I found the rolls royce brief daunting at the beginning due to the fact that I had never thought of designing samples for the interior of a car and I wasn't sure how I was going to create something to suit this brief. But after discussing with my lecturer he told me not to think to much into how my samples would sit in a car but to be as free as I wanted so that's what I did, I didn't think to much into where and how they would go into the car, because rolls royce in theory if they used them would adapt them to be made appropriate and how they could manufacture them. I'm glad that in the last week i thought more about changing the colour scheme of the Rolls Royce samples. I was put under a lot of pressure and it was change very last minute and un expected but it did allow me to be in a new situation and i found i worked better, despite not thinking this when told to change. I also found the new colour scheme more clean cut and graphic which suits the brief more appropriatley. As for my own self written unit I feel it went much smoother as I really wanted to get the feel of my jungle theme I kept to my colour scheme of green and yellows which in one of my first tutorials I was told that it was a very obvious choice. In spite of this feed back I decided to stick with this colour scheme as it is that very natural and camouflaged look that I wanted envisioned from my work. At the beginning I wasn't sure where I could envision my work being placed within interior design, but as I was creating my samples I could see them being In a shop window display hanging as a drop back or draped over tables with tribal inspired hand bags delicately placed on top. I must admit that I feel my rolls royce samples are more thought out have a more professional appearance I think this is due to the fact In the final week I much more preferred working on these rather than the other units. I am disappointed that i didn't really learn anything new in this assignment but I felt that I really wanted to work more with the ethos and I thought it worked well with the rolls royce brief as I envision they actual use that or a similar machine to actual create the emblems and surface design. One thing I used which I haven't before was the PFAF and it was a god send for bring texture and repetitive pattern into my work to match my illustrations. I made a lot of mistakes within this assignment with my colour scheme and the materials I used,I started using neoprene its a material I have been wanting to use for a while now but I looking at it now I wish I had got some coloured neoprene. And i think some of my harshest feed back but true was to stop using cheap sheer fabric as I was told bluntly "it looks tacky", and looking back on it I agree, but by this time I had a week left in my assignment and i had to work with what I had. I was happy that i managed to get my hands on to some real leather which was brilliant to work with. If I could go back I would get real leather straight away instead of imitation swede. I much happier with the out come of my rolls royce brief than my self initiated and I do think that was the fact I was forced to work under pressure because by the time I was told that my colours weren't working I was left with 5 days to change but surprisingly I feel they came out much better than what I had anticipated. I feel I had a clear journey from my initial drawings to my final samples.
