My work has developed in a way which was unexpected becoming
very 3D I’m working with it to create samples for interior design purposes. My
initial thoughts was to create samples for wall hangings but the more my work
developed into pieces more suited I felt for structural lamp shades. My target
market for this work is aimed towards those with a flamboyant outlook on life.
Aiming towards middle class who have a little more money to spend on household
items age ranging between 20’s and 40’s. I came across a site called CushLab where you can buy and own hand craft one of a
kind cushions. Set up by Rebecca Barton these 3D cushions inspired me to play
around with my samples create more shapes do some stitching on the multi head.
What also inspires me about their work is that they don’t aim their work to be
for mass production that are much more concerned with making their work
bespoke one of a kind. This is something
in which I would like to look at it following in the future as a career path
creating bespoke pieces made to order to the clients specifications.
Here is one of the hand craft cushions from the CushLab.
This was one of my more sucessful attempts at manipulating material.
