Relationship between my own personal practice and my live breif.

After my own personal practice developed from being quite abstract and turned very figurative I wanted my live brief to reflect this new approach to my work. I developed my initial drawings the same way In which I developed the body of work for my personal practice. I found images online of girls on nights out and I captures images from Disney’s Cinderella and worked from those images. I feel like my work is very starting to find its own path and that I am finally developing my own unique niche. I have always struggled for my work to find its way to all have something in which it all relates too. I am really enjoying the work In which I am producing and I feel that shows through my final samples. I haven’t ever thought of career options from which I can see my work fitting into but I am beginning to see that my work could be seen as quite commercial based. It’s something I never thought I would consider but after developing a collection of greetings cards I really enjoyed and I can see myself working in a similar way In the future.

Belly button cards.

Belly button is a company set up from Manchester that focus on hand craft unique cards for their customers. Their key selling point is that all the cards which they create have been handmade the designs of their cards is what truly stands out they work with painters, illustrators and textile workers to produce beautiful one of a kind pieces. Personalised cards where you add your own messages and choose the finishing touches cost around £8.00. Reproduced cards cost between roughly £3.00 - £4.00. I’m working on cards the same size as what the class as ‘large’ at 8inchs square. The way in which I am producing the sample I feel they would theoretically be sold at the same price as their personalised cards. By making a few changes though removing the actual material and scanning the fabric in and printing it onto fabric It could make the cards easier to reproduce and cheaper to sell. By also reducing the size I feel I would be able to produce the cards at a similar rate as their reproduced cards. I like the idea of the cards having the different layers to them in which they do now and I would want to keep the aspect to the but it would be whether people would be willing to pay the price.
