Evolving a Colour Palette
I have come to the point in my work where for it to evolve into something more I need to develop a thought out colour scheme. I went back to my research and looked at the animals again and it was the colours of the turtle dove that first of all caught my attention the blues, purples and grey tones. I began working with these colours and after presenting several samples using these colours to my tutor she had another idea. We talked about devloping more than one to have another palette that allows options for potential customers. So below are the colour palettes I came up with and where the inspiration came from.

Zara Day & Timorous Beasties
I wanted to look into other practitioners working within a similar way so that I gain some perspective on what is already out there and to give me inspiration for my own work. Timorous Beasties work has always inspired me they are a well known name and have developed innovative detailed wallpapers and soft furnishings using wildlife and botanic's as its inspiration. Its their collection involving bees that really caught my attention its bold and beautiful.

Screen printing samples.
I began putting some of my designs on screens ready for me to test screen printing on different natural materials. I wanted to use quite earthy tones just too see what they would come out like. I wasn't over all very happy with the appearance of the screen printing I found the colour of the printing to block like. I want to explore other ways of printing where I can get better colour tones. I did however go on to embroider over the top of a few samples just too see what they would come out like.

Developing initial drawings.
My initial drawings a very figurative and I need them to be adapted to appeal to children I want them to blend into a repetitive pattern. I used the silhouettes of the figures and began involving pattern with them. I didn't want to pin myself down to certain colours just yet I am unsure of what I wish my colour scheme to be.
