Inspiration of endangered wildlife.

I began my other unit finding inspiration from collections of different family members including stamps, thimbles and photgraphs. I went back too this and looked at other parts of my families hoarding problems that provoke personal feelings of nostalgia. In what was my family home we had numerous books shelves full of wildlife and botanical books full of detailed illustrations. It was here I found my inspiration of endangered British wildlife. I began with primary research doing initial drawings from these books.

Evaluation.

There have three different projects for myself throughout the practice unit I have had two for my own personal practice and developed my own live brief as I couldn’t find In which I could see my work fitting into. My first personal practice came from inspiration from flamingos and natural crystals I tried to develop 3D samples inspired by a variety of artists and designers working In different ways with different medias. I feel this collection of work never very quite followed and I feel this was down to a lack of context and inspiration eventually my work ran out of fuel I didn’t have enough images and drawings to work from. Because of this my samples became very distant from my drawings I feel I sort of lost my way. When it came to presenting this work I felt it really showed through the feedback that I received from members of staff as they didn’t quite understand where my ideas had come from. After this feedback I decided I needed to move on from this and take a different approach with my work. This is where I want onto my theme of preserving the past I feel I really found myself within this work I developed my own style tried new things and really worked hard to create samples in which I am proud to show. You can really see the difference in the quality of work from these two units. I aim to continue working on my theme of preserving the past throughout unit X I want to go back a step and look into other themes around this issue the only thing I would change If I could would be to play around with colour a little more. My first drawings for this unit I had many different colours involved and then I seem to just get rid of them all and work with this teal green and flamboyant pink. I personally like the colours but wish I had experimented more with other colours. My I live brief links in well with my previous work and again I am pleased with the final samples in which I developed and I could honestly see them being developed into cards. I feel that I achieved the task I set myself and they are in keeping with my target market which was a key aspect to this brief. If I was to continue with this work I would want to develop my own fabric backgrounds for them just so that they then had again another hand crafted aspect to them.  Overall the work in which I started off at the begging of the practice unit to the work I have developed at the end really shows a journey In which I went on. I started off very unsure of my work and this showed but by the end I am very proud of what I have produced and feel it’s a very strong body of work.
