Mum special collection

As a starting point for this unit I looked at the mmu special collections online I used the special collections as a starting point for the rest of my work for this unit. I began with illustrations from some books in the special collections they caught my attention with their wildlife front covers I often find myself draw to nature and wildlife as starting points for my work.  The images below our my own drawings inspired by images from the special collections website.

I need to go on to illustrations of things other than wildlife just so that I have a wide range of research based illustrations to base the rest of my work on. 

Pattern based illustrations

After my original drawings I wanted to go onto something with a bit more depth that I could work from so I copied illustrations this time with more going on with pattern but I was still drawn to that natural side of things as you can see. I feel I can take parts of these drawings though and adapt them further.

The only thing that I would say is that although there is a lot more going on with these illustrations and there is a lot more to base my further work here I feel although I do struggle to take my work away from  just using black and grey scale. So I want to bring a lot more colour into my further work. I also want to find specific artist/ designers which I can relate too within this unit.
